Ok, people have talked about this before. If you came to this page voluntarily, you've probably heard of it. It's the multiverse. Many universes parallel to each other. People have speculated that when you travel through time, you go to another universe that starts out the same as the original.
First of all, let me clear up something. If you go back in time and change stuff, everything occuring after that point in time could have been changed, but it's already happened once, so how can it be changed? Well, the answer is the multiverse. When you travel back in time, you go to a parallel universe. Everything that happens as a result of the change in the past happens in the parallel universe. The original universe from which you came stays the same. If everything stays the same in the original universe, you should still be there living life like nothing happened, right? Well, probably not. You've traveled to the other universe just as you would travel across the world. You've left one place to go to another.
This brings up another point. How do you travel between the universes? If every time you travel through time you branch off into another universe, how would you go back to the original? Well, that's hard to answer. It would probably have a lot to do with quantum mechanics, which I know a little about and I'm trying to learn more. If anyone that knows about quantum mechanics has any thoughts on this, please email me. Anyway, back to the subject. How do we travel to another universe? What if we already do? Maybe since we have never traveled through time, if we switch to another universe, would it be the same as the current. If this was true, we'd never know we switched. Even if other beings in the universe(in space) have traveled through time, they still might not have done anything to affect us in any of their universes. Or, maybe all the universes are different, but the way we change between them we never notice. I've heard that everything that can happen will happen in at least one universe. If this was the case, then there should be universes where the Nazis won the war, Bill Gates didn't start Microsoft, or space travel had been discovered 50 years earlier.
